What. A. Summer.

Hey there Reader,

This summer has been wild. Not because I partied, but because I was connected to life in the deepest, fullest kind of way. Good and bad, fun and sad, simple and magical.

One of the things I learned through these connections was this:

Solidarity kills pain.

(Nothing new; always beautiful to witness)

The bonds we create and cultivate help us grow, heal and literally feel better.

Some call it co-regulation. We release hormones, calm down, feel like we belong.

I picture it like a kind of osmosis.

We connect, influence, and re-balance our moods and inner states.

Our eyes soften, our feet feel stronger.

We co-create our capacity – how we’re able to move through pain, challenges, loss, heartache and injustice.

The solidarity I witnessed this summer – from humans, plants, animals, seas, and spirits was extra-ordinary. Magical. Effervescent.

Never underestimate the power of choosing to be among people (with a dose of discernment ofc!).

That’s why I’m kickstarting a circle of support for people whose job is to support people.

More soon.

Love,

Elena

Hey there Reader, We all hear voices in our head. Some of them we're conscious of, others not. That doesn’t mean we are “crazy”, whatever that means. When I first started paying attention to my inner voices, it struck me how many of them there were there. Some more active than others, some more persistent, some more bold. Each one with its own hues, range, and intonations. Each one telling a story. Time and will have helped me map them out. Put some at ease, others to rest. Some voices have...

Hey there Reader, In my previous email, I talked about how there’s a solution to anxiety and it involves re-directing your attention towards your body (icymi, you can read it here). But what happens when the body, your body, is not somewhere you want to go? Perhaps things have happened to you in the past and they involved your body. Perhaps you’ve dealt with pain for most of your life and it feels like your body is working against you. Perhaps the idea of focusing on your body feels weird or...

Whenever I tell people that part of my work is delivering stress management workshops, their eyes light up. I’m like eye candy. They lean in. They ask questions. They share stories. I have to admit: I sometimes regard the stress relief part of my work as the “most basic”, the least challenging, and thus the least gratifying one (thanks, patriarchy). It’s not as “deep” as trauma work, or as imaginative as energy work. I partly play it down because I sometimes… forget. I forget how it was when...
