Time management 101

Hi there Reader,

I’ve been thinking about our relationship with time.

We create this impossible Jenga schedule of our days and move around pieces, trying to make the right choices so that the whole thing won’t collapse.

The fear is immense.

We stay up at night trying to figure our moves out, play out all possible scenarios in our head and make the most informed decisions.

We’ve never learned to stop and ask ourselves:

What do I need to put in place underneath this time Jenga of mine?

Is there a safety net for that complex living architecture?

Is there something that would create a sense of foundation, on which the rest can be built and come into place?

What do I need before I even start my day?

What would feel right for my body, that basic block of my being, today?

Start with the base.

You can’t ever underestimate the basics.

What’s a basic thing that you know helps you immensely but you’ve put aside?

Is it a glass of water, a little dance, singing in the shower, caressing a plant, staring at the horizon, breathing deep into your belly, writing your thoughts down?

How can you start your day bringing it back in?

And how does you day change when you do?

Love,

Elena

Whenever I tell people that part of my work is delivering stress management workshops, their eyes light up. I’m like eye candy. They lean in. They ask questions. They share stories. I have to admit: I sometimes regard the stress relief part of my work as the “most basic”, the least challenging, and thus the least gratifying one (thanks, patriarchy). It’s not as “deep” as trauma work, or as imaginative as energy work. I partly play it down because I sometimes… forget. I forget how it was when...

Hey there Reader. A few weeks ago, I was guiding a group of people through an inner journey. I usually stand as I speak. I also move my hands quite a bit, especially if there’s energy work involved, which makes me feel a bit ashamed. I’m afraid people will think I’m weird, in a bad way. One person in that group had their eyes open. It happens. But this time, I became self-conscious. They saw me move my hands. I concluded the meditation, and moved on to questions. I was explaining something to...
